Dubai, July 5: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has on Friday congratulated Sudan and hailed the progress made between its Transitional Military Council (TMC) and the opposition coalition for making a breakthrough by agreeing to a transitional power-sharing agreement.
Anwar Gargash, the minister of state for foreign affairs, said the UAE extends support to crisis-hit Sudan in “good times and bad times”, according to Reuters news reports.
On his official Twitter handle, the UAE foreign affairs minister said, “We hope that the next phase will witness the foundation of a constitutional system that will strengthen the role of institutions with broad national and popular support.”

The Gulf Arab nation is an important supporter of the authorities of Sudan and exercises major influences in the nation.
Sudanese ruling military council reached an agreement with the opposition alliance of activists and protesters on Thursday to share power establishing a sovereign council during a three-year transitional ruling period until next election, an African Union (AU) mediators on Friday announced.
The two sides, whose officials have held discussions in the past two days in Khartoum, agreed to “establish a sovereign council by rotation between the military and civilians for a period of three years or slightly more,” mediator Mohamed Hassan Labatt said during a media conference.
The TMC and opposition coalition have been at loggerhead for weeks over who would rule the nation after a protest in April ousted ex-President Omar al-Bashir forcibly.
