The United Kingdom government has now engaged in a discussion for the second referendum of the British Prime Minister Theresa May’s proposed Brexit deal, with several groups across the UK parliament, the UK opposition Liberal Democrats Party head Vince Cable said.

Liberal Democrats leader Cable was quoted by The Guardian newspaper as saying: “One of the useful outcomes from the first round of the discussions with the government was around the practicalities of a People’s Vote. These discussions brought to the surface the complete misunderstanding in government circles about the timeline to bring it about.”

According to Sputnik news reports, the politicians who attended the discussion included ex-attorney General Dominic Grieve, where politicians expressed their disagreements with the second referendum timeline provided by the cabinets.

Grieve was quoted by the Express as saying: “If parliament wishes to have a referendum and the government is prepared to facilitate it, it could be carried out swiftly and within a limited time extension of Article 50 …  It is extraordinary for the Government to make these claims when their Brexit deal — which has been comprehensively rejected by Parliament — offers no certainty over our future relationship with Europe and would simply result in years of back-and-forth, arguments, and negotiations … It is neither helpful nor right to have misleading information of this kind put out.”

British prime minister began the discussion with parliament as a next step to resolve the Brexit impasse after she suffered a historic defeat in the history few days before on Wednesday.

The media reported on Thursday, with citing a UK cabinet office paper where it said the government could take up to one year to organize the second Brexit referendum.
