Theresa-May-Brexit

The United Kingdom parliament has on Tuesday dismissed British Prime Minister Theresa May’s proposed Brexit agreement for the second time, just 17 days before Britain is due to leave the European Union.

According to ANI news reports, the House of Commons has voted 391 to 242 to reject May’s Brexit deal. While facing the rejection for the second time, the members of parliament have been promised with another referendum on Wednesday, where they can decide whether Briain should leave the bloc with a deal. And, if that pitch was also rejected then parliament could have a vote on whether to request a Brexit extension.

Meanwhile, Donald Tusk, the European Council president, said the EU was “disappointed” by Tuesday’s Brexit vote results. Tusk further added it has done “all that is possible to reach an agreement” with the UK.

In an official statement, Tusk said, “Given the additional assurances provided by the EU in December, January and yesterday, it is difficult to see what more we can do. If there is a solution to the current impasse it can only be found in London.”

He added saying that with only 17 days left to 29 March, Tuesday’s vote has significantly increased the “likelihood of a ‘no-deal’ Brexit”. He said, “We will continue our no-deal preparations and ensure that we will be ready if such a scenario arises.”
