Islamabad, August 5: The United Nations (UN) has on Monday appealed both Pakistan and India to pursue maximum restraint in the disputed Kashmir region along the LoC (Line of Control).

Radio Pakistan quoted the United Nation security-general Antonio Guterres‘s spokesperson Stephane Dujarric as saying the UN appeal has been conveyed to both the neightbouring nations.

Dujarric also stated the UN military observer group in Pakistan and India has also reported a hike in armed forces’ activity along the LoC recently.

Referring to the current security condition in India’s province of Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian government decided on Monday to impose Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) in Kashmir which will be in effect from 6 am, according to ANI news reports.

The Indian army has on August 2 stated the Pakistani terrorists were attempting a terror coup during the pertaining Amarnath Yatra and that the armed forces responsible for the region’s security had recovered a Pakistan ordnance factory anti-personnel mine from a terror cache.

Keeping in view the escalated security conditions, the government of Jammu and Kashmir had advised its all Amarnath Yatris and foreign tourists to reduce their stay period in the valley.
