A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Germany and India was approved by the union cabinet on Thursday in the field of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH).

According to ANI news reports, under the MoU signed between India and Germany cooperation, which was renewed on November 13, via the International Social Security Association (ISSA), German Social Accident Insurance is bringing in expertise in order to meed the OSH challenges, specifically in manufacturing and the construction sectors.

Furthermost, German cooperation is expected to yield a result in capacity construction of DGFASLI (Directorate General Factory Advise Service and labour Institutes), the technical arm, and the construction of attached Indian ministry of labour office, the office of chief inspector of factories officers (CIFs) in the sectors of OSH, bolstering of inspection system in order to meet emerging challenges, development of OSH standards, laboratories’ upgrading carrying out applied research in the region of OSH, as well as the development in safety culture for strengthening the well-being of the Indian workers.
