The upcoming 2020 United States presidential election might head towards a poll on whether US wants President Donald Trump to be sent to prison or not, as followed by the statements presented by the prosecutors against Trump, filing charges.

Prosecutor Robert Mueller have depicted Donald Trump and identified him as “Individual-1” in a sentencing memo by Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen. Prosecutors has alleged Trump that he directed Cohen to pay hush money payment to two women, who claimed to have had affairs with Trump, in order to shut their mouth, and has violated the campaign finance law.

However, in response to Mueller’s alleged statement, Trump opposed it by arguing the payment was a “simple private transaction” and the democrats “wrongly call it a campaign contribution … which it is not”.

In a tweet, Trump on Monday, wrote: “But even if it is only a CIVIL CASE, like Obama’s – but it was done correctly by a lawyer and there would not even be a fine. Lawyer’s liability if he made a mistake, not me”

Trump tweeted: “Democrats can’t find a Smoking Gun tying the Trump campaign to Russia after James Comey’s testimony. No Smoking Gun … No Collusion.” That’s because there was NO COLLUSION. So now the Dems go to a simple private transaction, wrongly call it a campaign contribution which it was not.”

Attacking Cohen, Trump further wrote: “Cohen just trying to get his sentence reduced. WITHC HUNT!”

Commentator Charles Blow pointed out the “statute of limitations for campaign finance violations is five years. Re-election may well be Trump’s only hope of evading justice.”

Blow further noted, “Now, I am under no illusion that Trump will be indicted as a sitting president or that any efforts to impeach him will prove successful. But at some point, his term will end, and at that point the statute of limitations may not have expired.”

Likely to be next chairman of House Intelligence Committee Adam Schiff said, “We have been discussing the issue of pardons the president may offer to people or dangle in front of people.” He claimed, “”The bigger pardon question may come down the road, as the next president has to determine whether to pardon Donald Trump.”

Schiff said, “There’s a very real prospect that on the day Donald Trump leaves office, the Justice Department may indict him. That he may be the first president in quite some time to face the real prospect of jail time.”
