The United States president Donald Trump on Friday, announced that he will nominate William Barr to become attorney general. Trump said, “He was my first choice from day one.” Trump called Barr to return back to the head of Justice Department.

Trump called Barr “one of the most respected jurists in the country” and termed Barr “a terrific man”. Trump said he was hoping of a quick confirmation reply of Barr from the senate.

Last month, Trump has made Jeff Sessions to resign at Trump’s request. Barr will now replace Jeff. Barr would now inherit the department which was settled up by Jeff and would implement Trump’s tough attitude towards the illegal immigration with some operations against human trafficking, transnational gangs (especially MS-13) and drug trafficking.

Barr would also investigate the alleged investigation on Trump’s campaign plot with Russia over controlling the 2016 US general election.

Barr had served under the presidency of George Bush. Barr is the one who, under Bush’s presidency, had “provided legal reasoning used by the administration to justify the invasion of Panama and the arrest of Manuel Antonio Noriega”.

In recent incidents, Barr has defended Trump over firing FBI director James Comey in the year 2017. According to news reports, Barr has wrote: “It was widely recognized that Comey’s job was in jeopardy regardless of who won the election.”

Barr said, “I think it is quite understandable that the administration would not want an FBI director who did not recognize established limits on his powers.”
