United States trade representative Robert Lighthizer has on Wednesday, slammed Beijing for not proposing a “meaningful reform” against the trade policies, which is resulting is harming US workers and also the industry, and threatens China to impose tariff rate on Chinese autos.

Amid US-China trade war, US latest threat comes ahead of US President Donald Trump due meeting with President of China Xi Jinping to resolve the trade conflict between the two world’s top economic powers countries- United States and China.

Escalating the dispute further with his statement, Lighthizer said, “China’s aggressive, state-directed industrial policies are causing severe harm to US workers and manufacturers.”

He further said, “As of yet, China has not come to the table with proposals for meaningful reform.”

Lighthizer said, “At the president’s direction, I will examine all available tools to equalize the tariffs applied to automobile.”

US has already imposed “precious panel” on half of the Chinese good which were exported to US markets each year, and has also threatens to target remaining $267 billion.

Though, earlier this month Trump and Xi have talked about to resolve US-China trade war and Trump has called it “very good”. Xi has said he was “happy” after talking to Trump.

Economic advisor Larry Kudlow has told a press conference at White House that “the president said there is a good possibility that we can make a deal and he is open to it”.

Underlining the tough conditions about US imposing tariff rate on Beijing, Larry Kudlow further said, “China should change its practices and come into the community of responsible trading nations.”

Kudlow said, “We are in a position to deal with it and handle it very well.”
