The United States senior republican on Friday, vowed to investigate into the matter of resignation of “livid” James Mattis, who resigned on Wednesday, out of frustration on the US President Donald Trump’s move to withdraw its troops from Syria.

James Mattis, retired general, said he would be leaving the Trump administration in February, announced his decision on letter. Mattis wrote: “One core belief I have always held is that our strength as a nation is inextricably linked to the strength of our unique and comprehensive system of alliances and partnerships.”

Along with republican and democrats, many other foreign officials expressed their regret over Mattis’s resignation. Senator Lindsey Graham said that he would be holding hearing over two major issues that has lead defence secretary to resign – withdrawal of the US troops from Syria and Afghanistan.

Graham assured about hearing with inviting Mattis to attend. Graham said, “I’m going to ask for hearings like right now about Syria.”

According to news reports, on the grounds of numerous issues Mattis has disapproved with Trump such as the Iran nuclear deal, threat to the US and allies from the climate change, transgender people serving in military services and the need of comprehensive US diplomacy.

A report by the Association Press has stated the final trigger was done when Trump has announced that ISIS had been defeated and said time to withdraw US troops from Syria. On Friday, when asked about fate of Kurdish allies, US secretary of state Mike Pompeo said, “You shouldn’t enter that debate today. The history between the Turks and the Kurdish is a long one, it is a complicated one, and the US is deeply aware of the set of relationships there.”

Reports also said Mattis has wrote a resignation letter when going to the White House to meet Trump and persuade him as a final attempt to change Trump’s mind.

The White House has rebuffed the reports by the Association Press with national security council spokesperson Garrett Marquis saying, “In no uncertain terms, reporting throughout this story is not true,” further adding in a statement, “It is clear from the context that this false version of events is from sources who lack authority on the subject, possibly from unnamed sources in Turkey.”
