Washington DC, July 23: On the tenth commemoration of the promotion of the United States to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia, Washington celebrates its enduring relationship and flourishing strategic cooperation with Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

The close connection between ASEAN and the United States has progressed on the establishment of the profoundly held shared standards and qualities cherished in the Treaty, the US department of state said.

State department spokesperson Morgan Ortagus said this commemoration helps the US to remember their common responsibility for advancing harmony, friendship, and participation all through the Indo-Pacific.

As ASEAN keeps on assuming a focal role in the area, Ortagus said America anticipate developing our key association and strategic partnership, which has profited the general population of Southeast Asia and the USA (United States of America) and brought both sides closer.

As India celebrated its 69th Republic Day in 2018, Prime Minister Narendra Modi played host to 10 leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations or ASEAN as guests of honor at the ceremonial parade being held at Rajpath. The parade was presided over by President Ram Nath Kovind.

Only one foreign dignitary is invited as a guest of honor at the Republic Day parade where India showcases its military might with a procession of troops and weaponry with the exceptions were in 1956, 1968 and 1974 and there is high security installed at each and every step.

But this year, the leaders of Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, and Brunei will be given the honor, the first time such a bloc has attended, India’s foreign ministry stated.
