Washington DC, August 19: The United States has on Sunday strongly condemned the “barbaric” suicide bombing attack at a wedding ceremony in the Afghan capital, Kabul, that claimed the lives of 63 people with other 180 injured.

In a tweet, White House national security advisor (NSA) John Bolton said, “We condemn in the strongest terms ISIS’ barbaric #kabulblast on the wedding party in Kabul that left nearly 63 dead and hundreds injured. The US stands with the Afghan government and people.”

According to Afghan interior ministry, children and women were among those counted as victims. The Islamic State (IS) has claimed the responsibility of one of the deadliest terror attack in Afghanistan.

Earlier the day, US department of state spokesperson Morgan Ortagus has released an official statement on the terror attack in Kabul, reiterating the US’ position towards it, as per Sputnik news reports.

Ortaqus said via twitter: “The United States condemns the despicable ISIS attack at a wedding hall in Kabul yesterday. The Afghan people deserve a future free from terror. That is why it is time for all Afghans to join in the #AfghanPeaceProcess and build a united front against the menace of ISIS.”
