Washington DC, August 3: The United States and India assessed the progress made on Friday in several different aspects of the defence cooperation between the two nations, including mil-to-mil engagement, research and development, industry, procurement, technology, and defence trade.

Both the nations agreed to develop an environment conducive policy to the cooperation between the start-ups and the defence industry in the two nations, according to ANI news reports.

During the 15th round of meeting of the US-India defence group (DPG), which was held on Friday in Washington DC, both the sides reached an understanding regarding this matter.

Sanjay Mitra, the defence secretary of India, has led a team of the Indian delegation while John Rood, the undersecretary of defence for policy, has led the US team of delegation to the meeting.

During the talks, the two nations recognized the profit of enabling the defence arrangements concluded by both sides, and praised New Delhi’s designation as the “major defence partner of the US”.

Moreover, both sides underlined the need and importance of the partnership between start-ups and the defence market, and nod head to pursue a “policy environment” conducive to it.

Both nations also reaffirmed the importance of the role of the DPG as a vital process of the Ministerial 2+2, assisting translate their shared strategic aim of collaboration into reality.

In addition, they also agreed to hold their next round of meeting of the DPG at shared convenient dates in India.
