Biarritz, August 27: United States President Donald Trump has on Monday said Pakistan and India are able to resolve the Kashmir issue by their own but he was available if they need his mediation.

He discussed this issue with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the G7 summit in a French city of Biarritz began on Sunday. He said Modi told him he has control over Kashmir in the matter.

Trump has previously offered to mediate on Kashmir issue between India and Pakistan after Modi led government scrapped Article 370 that offered a special status to Jammu and Kashmir on August 5.

“We spoke last night about Kashmir, prime minister really feels he has it under control. They speak with Pakistan and I’m sure that they will be able to do something that will be very good,” the US president told journalists, Dawn reported.

Speaking alongside the US president, Modi has said the issues, including Kashmir matter, between Pakistan and India, were “bilateral in nature”.

“All issues between India & Pakistan are bilateral in nature, that is why we don’t bother any other country regarding them,” Modi said, according to ANI news reports.

Modi said he was “confident that we can discuss our problems and solve them, together”.
