US Senate

Donald Trump led government faced a huge blow on Thursday as the administration failed to get the Obamacare overturned. Obamacare, the bill for affordable healthcare launched by previous Barack Obama administration, has been severely criticised by Donald Trump over the years.

In the voting, 3 members of Republicans went against the party line and voted in the favour of the bill. The final voting saw the scores of 51 legislators in the support of the bill and 49 against it. US House of Representatives had approved the bill of Republicans in May and that had prompted the party to go for voting in the senate.

After the voting concluded, Republicans termed the move as unfortunate. A bill in the United States needs to first get the approval of house of representatives followed by the senate. In the last step, the bill is sent to the president for his approval.
