The United States senate on Thursday, double rebuke President Donald Trump and voted in favour to end US military supply and support in Yemen for the war and also blamed Saudi Arabia crown prince Mohammed bin Salman for ordering the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

The votes were symbolic as to become that a law, it (resolution) needed to pass through the House of Representatives, where Republican leaders blocked any of the legislation intended in order to rebuke the Saudis.

Earlier, senators had voted 56-41 in order to end the US military supply or support for the civil war in Yemen. The United Nations has called the Yemen war a largely dire human crisis of the world as it has killed almost hundreds of thousands of people.

It was a very first time when US government has voted to withdraw its military support for the Yemen’s war under the War Power Act. The law has passed in 1973, limit the president’s ability in order to commit its military forces to hostilities without any congressional approval.

After Yemen vote, US senators backed its resolution blaming Mohammed for the murder of Khashoggi and insisted that the country Saudi Arabia was accountable for anyone who is responsible for Khashoggi’s murder. The senators pressurized house leaders in order to allow a vote on Khashoggi’s murder.

Republican senator Bob Corker said, “Unanimously, the United States Senate has said that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is responsible for the murder of Jamal Khashoggi. That is a strong statement. I think it speaks to the values that we hold dear.”

According to news reports, Trump has accepted the resolution over Yemen war but told senators that he wants the Washington to stand by Saudi Arabia government and crown prince, ignoring CIA assessment over Mohammed killing Khashogii.

White House spokesperson said, “Our shared strategic interests with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia remain, and we continue to view as achievable the twin imperatives of protecting America and holding accountable those responsible for the killing.”

Senaror Bernie Sanders said, “What’s next is to do everything possible to demand that the House of Representatives do what the members of the House want done, an opportunity to vote on this,” adding, “I think we’re going to win in the Senate and I think we are going to do what the American people want, that is to end our participation in this horrific and destructive war.”
