Beijing, August 2: Top Chinese diplomat Wang Yi on Friday said the recent threats of imposition of additional 10 percent tariffs on the $300 billion Chinese goods from US President Donald Trump was incorrect and not to be considered as a constructive way to resolve the trade dispute between Beijing and Washington.
Wang’s remark comes shortly after Trump announced he was planning to impose an additional 10% tariffs over remaining Chinese imports on Friday, which would go effective from September 1 as declared, according to Reuters news reports.
Wang made these statements which interacting with journalists on the sidelines fo the ASEAN summit in Bangkok, Thailand.
Washington planning to imposed an extra 10 per cent tariffs on the remaining Chinese goods worth USD 300 billion which will go effective from September 1, United States President Donald Trump has on Thursday announced.
Trump has noted the new tariffs over the Chinese imports would be in addition to the previous 25 per cent tariff that has been already imposed on $250 billion of imports by the US.
Chief negotiators from both the sides recently met of the 12th round of their high-level trade and economic consultations this week in Shanghai.
