Venezuela has slammed the United States President Donald Trump on Sunday, for its motive to consider American military intervention in Venezuela in order to oust President Nicolas Maduro and regime.

According to TASS News agency reports, Venezuelan vice president Delcy Rodriguez, while addressing briefing for Russian journalist, was quoted by the news agency as saying, “We don’t accept these statements by the US president. The hidden motive behind them is the desire to get hold of Venezuela’s rich resources.”

Rodriguez’s remarks came after the US president stated, in an interview with CBS News, that the deployment of American military troops was an “option” in order to put an end, quickly, to the ongoing Venezuelan political crisis.

Trump said, “Certainly, it’s something that’s on the – it’s an option.” While blaming Maduro for creating a humanitarian crisis in the country and describing the presidential elections as rigged, Trump said “a number of months ago” he had turned down the proposal to hold talks with the Venezuelan leader.

Trump said, “I’ve turned it down because we’re very far along in the process. I would say this. I decided at the time, no, because so many really horrible things have been happening in Venezuela when you look at the country.”

Meanwhile, Rodriguez said the country (Venezuela) was capable enough to deal with the current political crisis, and also that it will end it as soon without seeking for any international interference within its country’s affair. She said, “Sovereignty is not a subject for discussion, sovereignty is what must be defended.”
