Venezuelan elected legitimate president Nicolas Maduro has ordered the closure of the country’s border with Brazil amid the row over foreign humanitarian aid entering the country.

According to BBC news reports, the president has gone on TV to state that also, he was considering to shut the border with Colombia in order to stop the opposition, self-proclaimed interim president of Venezuela, Juan Guaido from bringing in humanitarian aid through the border.

Maduro denied allegation about any crisis in the country and also called the aid delivery plans a United States-orchestrated show.

Opposition leader Juan Guaido was leading a convoy from Caracas to the Colombian border.

Later on Friday, a concert raising voice for money assistance for Venezuela will be held on the Colombian side of the border with Venezuela. At that time, Maduro’s government will also hold its own event, just 300 meters away reportedly.

The national assembly head Guaido declared himself as the interim president of the country during an anti-government protest last month and was also recognized by dozens of the nations across the globe, including most of the Latin American countries and the United States.

Gauido and his allies hope to receive as much as humanitarian aid such as food and medicines in neighbouring Colombia and Brazil in defiance of Maduro.

Restricted by Venezuelan defence and other top military commanders, Maduro announced the border with Brazil would get closed “completely and absolutely” until further notice on Thursday.

The crossing usually closes at night and would normally open at 08:00 local time (12:00 GMT).
