New Delhi: Indian vice president M Venkaiah Naidu is scheduled to embark on an official four-day tour to Vietnam from May 9, according to external affairs ministry’s statement on Wednesday.

According to ANI news reports, during his tour, Naidu is slated to hold meetings with his Vietnamese counterpart Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, chairperson of the national assembly of Vietnam Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, the MEA, in an official statement said.

Naidu will also deliver a keynote address at the 16th United Nations Day of Vesak Celebration at Tam Chuo-Pagoda in Ha Nam province of Vietnam.

He will also address the Indian community, as well as, Vietnamese beneficiaries of Jaipur foot artificial limb fitment camp organized in Vietnam under “India for Humanity” initiative launched to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

Naidu’s visit to Vietnam follows a series of top-level exchange in 2018 including visit paid by Prime Minister last year in January and President in March 2018 of Vietnam to India.

All these exchanges have resulted in cooperation in various sectors including security and defence ties, forged new commercial and economic linkages and deepening people-to-people relation.

The relations between the two nations was increased to a comprehensive strategic partnership during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official visit to Vietnam in 2016. Both sides have shared a common interest to promote prosperity, security and peace in the Indo-Pacific region.
