Chinese foreign ministry Lu Kang said on Monday, the United States and China want to work together on resolving trade war, as the world’s two largest economic countries have resumed their talks in a bid to put an end to their trade war.

According to news reports, the US officials are supposed to have talks with their Chinese counterparts in Beijing, first-ever face-to-face talks since Chinese President Xi Jinping and the US President Donald Trump has agreed to a 90-day truce agreement in their trade war in December that has spoiled international markets.

The US president has on Sunday, said that the trade talks with China were going smooth and very well and that that the weakness inside the Chinese economy provides Beijing a strong reason to work together with the US towards a deal.

According to reports, Lu Kang said that both the two countries have agreed to hold a “positive and constructive” talks in order to resolve trade and economic dispute in accordance with consensus which was reached by both countries leaders.

Lu said: “From the beginning, we have believed that China-U.S. trade friction is not a positive situation for either country or the world economy. China has good faith, on the basis of mutual respect and equality, to resolve the bilateral trade frictions.”

Lu said, “As for whether the Chinese economy is good or not, I have already explained this. China’s development has ample tenacity and huge potential.”

He added saying “we have firm confidence in the strong long-term fundamentals of the Chinese economy”.
