Saint Petersburg, June 8: Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Friday hit back at the United States‘ global economic dominance and the “inequalities” in the world’s economic operation.

With Being struck in a trade with Washington and Moscow under sanctions, Putin and Xi lashed out at “inequalities” in the economic market of the world, and further pledged to pursue a closer relationship between the two sides, according to Dawn news reports.

While interacting with business and political leaders on the sidelines of St Petersburg International Economic summit, Putin accused the US of seeking to “extend its jurisdiction to the whole world”.

Denouncing “rhetoric of trade wars and sanctions”, the Russian president called for reconsider the role of US dollar ($) in the global trade market, while also slamming America’s pressure on both nations.

He noted US efforts to abandon the construction of Nord Stream 2 – a major natural gas pipeline bypassing Ukraine from Russia to Germany, and US pressure of Chinese telecom giant Huawei technology Pvt Ltd.

“They are attempting not just to squeeze but to unceremoniously push (Huawei) out of the global market,” Putin said.

The Chinese president stated the actions needed in order to “overcome inequalities” in the global market.

Xi said Beijing was looking forward to constructing “beneficial cooperation on the basis of equality and mutual respect” with its friendly nations.

“China is ready to share technological inventions with all partners, in particular, 5G technology,” Xi said.
