Yemen Houthi Rebel

Istanbul, May 21: Saudi Arabia has on Tuesday said the warring parties of Yemen, the Houthi rebels, have launched a bomb-laden drone attack targeting civilian infrastructure in a Yemen city alongside the Kingdom’s border.

According to Dawn news reports, a statement was released on early Tuesday by the state-run Saudi Press Agency which has quoted Saudi Arabia-led coalition spokesperson Turki al-Maliki as saying Yemen’s Houthi rebels “had tried to target” the area in Najran.

However, the statement didn’t describe but instead used a word in the Arabic language that often refers to power plants, schools, and hospitals. Moreover, the Houthi rebels also did not claim the responsibility of an attack in Yemen.

It was not clear if there were any injuries. Al-Maliki warned there would be a “strong deterrent” to such attacks and described the Houthis as the “terrorist militias of Iran.”

The Houthis have last week launched a coordinated drone attack over a Saudi Arabia oil pipeline in the midst of heightened tensions between the US and Iran.
