Houthi forces of Yemen have started to redeploy its forces on Saturday, inside the port city of Hodeidah, as a part of the United Nations (UN) sponsored peace process agreement, which was signed earlier this month in Sweden.

According to a news reports, the Houthis (Iranian-aligned) have agreed with the Saudi-backed government in order to implement a ceasefire in the Hodeidah region and to withdraw their respective forces from the region.

The head of a United Nations advance retired Dutch general Patrick Cammaert was appointed to monitor the ceasefire.

Under the deal, the international monitors of ceasefire are to be deployed in Hodeidah region and a redeployement coordination committee with including both the side would oversee the implementation. The committee has started its meeting early this week.

According to reports, the Houthi forces had begun to redeploy overnight, which would control the city and also its strategic port.

A Houthi military spokesperson said: “Our forces have started to redeploy since last night from Hodeidah port, as agreed in Sweden.”

The agreement, which aimed at UN effort of peace process, was a part of a confidence-building measures, aimed to design a way for the wider truce and also a framework for the political negotiations.
