Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday announced that people living in the unauthorized colonies of the national capital will soon be given ownership rights of their properties.

Taking to Twitter, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said, ‘I wish to congratulate people living in ‘kutcha’ colonies as Centre gave a positive response yesterday to the proposal of Delhi govt to give ownership rights to the people over their houses. They have agreed to authorize the ‘Kutcha’ colonies’.

Further revealing the details about the proposal, Delhi Chief Minister said that the government received a reply from the Centre. ‘They have accepted the proposal and sent a very positive response. Centre has asked some questions which will be replied by us in a few days,” he added.

Congratulating the residents living in the unauthorized colonies, Kejriwal said, ‘They all will soon get the ownership rights of their properties’.

Speaking in the Press Conference, Aam Aadmi Party President and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal added that registries of around 1,797 unauthorized colonies will soon begin after Centre’s nod. Talking about the unauthorized colonies of the national capital, Kejriwal said there was absolutely no development in these unauthorized colonies.

Talking about his plans, Chief Minister said his government will spend our Rs. 6,000 crore to develop these colonies. ‘This became possible as our government was committed to providing ownership rights to people,” he said.

He further added his government has allocated Rs. 1,500 crore in the budget for the development of these unauthorized colonies.

Kejriwal was accompanied by Urban Development Minister Satyendar Jain in the press conference.

Assembly Polls in the national capital are now just months away, Delhi CM-led AAP government has already sped up the developmental projects including work being done in unauthorized colonies.

Last month, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal directed to complete developmental works in 781 unauthorized colonies in Delhi.

It should be noted that the Delhi ruling party, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), days after facing a humiliating victory in the national polls, has intensified its mission ‘Delhi’. AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal has clearly directed all the MLAs to reach out to their constituencies and ensure to complete every pending work on time.

Earlier, AAP Chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced his plans to provide free rides to women in Delhi Metro and DTC Buses in Delhi.

However, the announcement has been criticized by experts who termed the move will make the Delhi Metro economically weak.
