The Vasundhara Raje led BJP government in Rajasthan is trying to bank on the votes of the people who have benefited from the government schemes in the past 5 years. The state BJP chief Madan Lal Saini has said that the government has already identified more than 50 lakh people who have received the benefits from the government welfare programs.

Saini also added that party workers will light up kamal diya (lotus lamps) at the houses of the beneficiaries on October 21. This will spread a good word about the government in the vicinity of the beneficiaries. “We will form teams at the booth level to carry out this activity’, he said.

The party workers in districts are asked to target beneficiaries of various schemes such as loan waiver, crop insurance, concession in educational fee and also those who got government jobs during this regime.

This step has been taken by the government after BJP National president Amit Shah had asked the party workers to interact with the voters and establish direct connect with the voters and promote the work done by the government.

A senior BJP Leader stated, “The state government has given 3.5 lakh government jobs, waived loans of over 30 lakh farmers and covered 1.6 crore people under the Bhamashah Swasthya Bima Yojana (health insurance). It’s payback time for them”.

This move by the BJP can be seen as a counter to the door-to-door campaign initiated by the Congress on October 2 to raise funds and address people about government’s failure.

Last month, Vasundhara Raje had conducted public dialogue programs in which she interacted with beneficiaries among SC STs and teachers who were recruited in present regime.

Assembly elections will be conducted in the state of Rajasthan along with Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh at the year-end.
