Green Homes

Government of India is taking measurable steps for conserving our nature. They are now promoting energy efficient homes by offering cheaper loans and low registration fees for green residential units. This proposal is the part of the ongoing discussions on ‘Energy Conservation Building Code for Residential Sector (ECBC-R). Ministry for power, coal and renewable energy is planning to release the refreshed version of ECBC- 2017 which will outline the quantum leap towards a greener outlook for Indian reality.

According to the reports, the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) is working on a scheme to incentivise new homes that are more energy efficient which lowers the demand for utilities like light and cooling energy. Also, they are planning to extend the incentives for making existing residuals properties more energy efficient through retrofitting.

ECBC-R will boost the government’s ‘Make In India’ campaign as this is expected to raise the demand for energy efficient household equipment as well as other services. The policy will also strengthen the government’s efforts at reducing the carbon footprint of a growing segment of energy consumers and adds green jobs in the real estate business.
