Hope 'Bhoomi' rocks at box office: Apoorva Lakhia!

The Indian film director Apoorva Lakhia says that he hopes that Bhoomi will rock at the Box office. Before starting his career as a director he worked with an Ashutosh Gowariker in the period epic film Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India. For the movie Lagaan, Aamir Khan was looking for someone with Holywood experience so Farhan Akhtar suggested the name of Apoorva Lakhia because Apoorva has worked with the Hollywood cast and crew. He even assisted the 1996 movie Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love.

Then, In 2002 he made his debut as a film director with the movie ‘Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost’. Later in 2005, he directed his second movie ‘Ajnabee’, which released in 2005. The movie features Amitabh Bachchan and Arjun Rampal in the leading role was a remake of the Hollywood film Man on Fire. Later he directed many movies like Shootout at Lokhandwala, Sex on the Beach, Dus Kahaniyaan, and Mission Istanbul. Apoorva even directed the Amitabh Bachchan’s movie ‘Zanjeer’, with a Telugu star Ram Charan and Priyanka Chopra.

Currently, director Apoorva is working on his upcoming movie title Haseena Parkar, which is produced by Nahid Khan. The film features Shraddha Kapoor in the lead role, her real life brother Siddhanth Kapoor will be seen portraying the role of Dawood Ibrahim, and Ankur Bhatia will be playing the role of Haseena’s husband. The biopic will be based on the life of Haseena.

Director Apoorva Lakhia says that his movie “Haseena Parkar” is all set to clash with Omung Kumar’s revenge drama movie title ‘Bhoomi’, which is said to be an emotional and sensitive revenge drama and it shows the relationship between a father and his daughter. But he hopes that both the movies do well at the Box office.

Talking about Apoorva’s upcoming movie “Haseena Parkar”, which will revolve around the life of Haseena as she was living a normal family life before her husband was gunned down by men from Arun Gawli’s gang. This incident prompted her to step up and be a part of the notorious ‘D-Company’ and eventually become the Godmother of Nagpada. The movie is based on a true story on the life and times of the sister of India’s Most Wanted Man Dawood Ibrahim. The film’s tagline is, “80 cases registered yet she appeared in the court only once”, and this power permeates the teaser too.

Both the movies (Haseena Parkar and Bhoomi) are set to release, on the same date. On this director, Apoorva says, “As far as a clash with ‘Bhoomi’ is concerned, Sanju sir is a very close and dear friend of mine. We went to the same school. Both are different films of the different genre… We spoke about it and there is no problem. Every week there are three-four films coming so fortunately or unfortunately, both films are releasing together.”

Apoorva wishes that Sanjay Dutt’s movie “Bhoomi” does well because Sanjay deserves a big hit. Apoorva said, “The call is made by producers to release it and as a director I have nothing to say about it.”

Earlier, Apoorva Lakhia’s movie was supposed to release on 14 July and but later the makers of the movie have pushed the date to 18 August and then they have shifted to September 22.

“Haseena Parkar” will be scheduled to release on September 22.
