Box office collections are often the parameter for masses to judge the worth of a movie. If that is to be considered Padmaavat seems to be doing rather well. According to the collections report, Padmaavat managed to cross 20 crores on day 1 and has successfully incurred 50 crores by day 2.

It is worth noticing that even though the movie got its clearance from CBFC, a lot of distributors have refused the screening of the movie because of the fear of the vandalism caused by the Karni Sena. In prominent places like Rajasthan, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, the movie continues to suffer the loss of viewership. Despite the movie not getting its fair share of screens across the country, it seems to be doing well according to the box office report.

Although the movie did not attract much footfall on day 1, partly because of sena’s fear and partly because the opening was on a weekday yet due to the long weekend it is expected that Padmaavat will take a whopping leap in the coming days. Trade analysts already believe that getting into the 100 crore club won’t be an issue for the movie but it will be interesting to see whether it enters the 200 crore club which is the new rage in Bollywood these days.

Controversies, however nasty, do add to the publicity of a movie. With an A-list star cast, an ace director and the multitude of controversies that surrounds Padmaavat, let’s see how far does the movie go in the race to highest box office collection.
