Rajkummar Rao went into an unrecognisable look with heavy prosthetics in ‘Raabta‘, earlier he had lost 8 kg for his Vikramaditya Motwane’s survival-drama, Trapped and Behen Hogi Teri, then he shaved the crown of his head to look convincing in the role of freedom fighter Subhash Chandra Bose. And now the actor has put on another 11 kg for his portrayal of Subhash Chandra Bose in a web series directed by Hansal Mehta. Rajkumar seems to be doing a lot of work for this. He takes his roles seriously and doesn’t hold back from putting in extra effort to make them more relatable and interesting.

He posted a picture on his social media account as a proof captioning it as, “#AnActorsLife #Building a character. From Behen Hogi Teri to Trapped to currently shooting for #Bose. Nothing gives me higher than preparing and living a character.”

Rajkumar said, “For all my previous films — City Lights, Aligarh and of course Trapped— I’ve been asked to lose weight. So I was delighted when I was asked to gain weight. I have been binging on pizzas, Bengali sweets and junk food for the last one month-and-a-half and will continue this routine till August. I stopped working out two months ago. I decided that I wanted to see the character whenever I looked in a mirror and not Rajkummar. I even listened to Rabindrasangeet on loop and read Bose’s unfinished autobiography to connect with the era. These helped me the most.”

The life of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, which is being directed by Hansal Mehta has Rajkummar Rao as the lead. The director said that it will be an attempt to present the life and struggle of Subhash Chandra Bose to the current generation. Subhash Chandra Bose is credited with revamping the Indian National Army, whose aim was to secure India’s independence from British rule. The series portrays Rajkummar Rao in several looks from Bose’s college days to when the freedom fighter founded the Indian National Army.
