Haseena movie review!

Shraddha Kapoor‘s most awaited movie “Haseena Parkar” has finally released today. The movie which is directed by Apoorva Lakhia and produced by Nahid Khan. The film features Shraddha Kapoor in the lead role, her real-life brother Siddhanth Kapoor will be seen portraying the role of Dawood Ibrahim, and Ankur Bhatia will be playing the role of Haseena’s husband. The biopic will be based on the life of Haseena.

The movie ‘Haseena Parkar’ starts with a Mumbai session court where Haseena (the role played by Shraddha Kapoor) has to appear at a hearing and then we heard a voice saying ‘Main Hoon Haseena Parkar’ and with that, we are off.  In the court when she was being asked that how is she involved with her brother Dawood’s business even she is also accused of using his name to extort others.

Then Haseena begins to narrate her story and she takes us back to the time in the late 70’s. She starts that her father was working in the police force and her family is not financially well off and her brother Dawood’s relation does not go well along with her father he is rebellious and then one day along with her brother Saabir, Dawood set up an illegal business and then later both of them have transforms them into a don.

Haseena was too small at that time and in the movie, we have seen her relationship growing with her brother Dawood. Later Haseena got married to a small-time actor with a name Ibrahim (the role played by the Ankur Bhatia) and they together have a baby. While in the movie Siddhanth Kapoor has done a great acting while portraying the role of Dawood. However, Shraddha’s performance was not that up to the mark at times she has behaved immaturely, but the main intention is to give the idea of the Haseena’s real life but that does not translate well into her performance.

Talking about the first night scene it is supposed to be Haseena sitting anxiously on the bed, but shraddha shakes uncontrollably just to depicts the character’s inner turmoil and somehow the whole scene looks unreal. The movie does not help the characterization is all over the place. While on one hand, Haseena has been presented as a fiery, while on the other hand she has been presented as a native to the point of appearing dumb.

When seeing her husband beaten up by his fellow actor for a scene in the film which they are shooting for and suddenly she asked her brother Dawood that does he really thinks that anyone can beat Ibrahim because this one man was beating him up the other day and he actually did not say a word and that sounds weird from a woman who is presented as being very aware and capable of more than holding her own.

The movie will take back in a flashback sequence at the time when Saabir’s death. Her brother Saabir was found dead by a rival Pathan gang, but even that the director has delivered a filmi stare down to the leaders of his assassins and after seeing his body Haseena bursts into a loud tear. Meanwhile, Dawood has killed two main members of the Pathan gang as a revenge. Then after all this police has tightened their grip and after that Dawood leaves the country and he met Haseena for the last time in an emotional farewell.

Now, the movie will show that how Haseena’s husband was being killed. Despite being riddled by the bullets, Ibrahim still manages to move up and down the stairs and then Haseens takes her husband to the hospital in the taxi and this is the scene when you expect the best performance from an actor, but Shraddha seems inert in this scene. One can easily see that the actress was confused that how much emotions she has to put into in this scenes.

The second half of the movie shows that Haseena is summoned by the police station because of his brother Dawood allegedly has a hand in the Mumbai blasts. In the second half of the movie, you will actually see Haseena as a mature and more define. Her true acting basically arrives in the second half and keeping her courtroom character aside she will finally be appearing after years of contact with the underworld and her visit to the police station serves as a great showcase for Shraddha ‘s portrayal of Haseena.

The director has given a bombing sequence a well-shot in which everything around them freezes, men, object, even you will see vegetables fly through the air and flames break out and that is a standout scene. Meanwhile, Dawood’s character has been reduced to the phone calls. Whenever he responds to Haseena’s phone he always asks ‘Beta Sab Khairiyat?’ even while dining with his mistress in Dubai.

While in her absence of her brother Haseena take care of all his business in Mumbai. She is very well known as Aapa. In the start of the film, we have seen that Haseena was asked to cover her head and to stay within her limits by her father when she tries to protect Dawood from her father. Now, she is the matriarch of the house and even she used to beat her son Danish in the same way like her father used to beat Dawood. Her son Danish becomes a small-time goon and all her fear comes true when even her son was killed in an accident by her rivals.

Shraddha tried hard to cut her bold figure, but it’s hard to take her seriously and the best scene was that when the policeman interrogates with her that is the best act of hers. We will not be revealing much about the court troubles and how she got sorted with all of her legal troubles. The movie ‘Haseena Parkar’ concludes with a cliffhanger of sorts and there are many questions that even we don’t have answers to such questions. Earlier, the makers wanted to name the movie ‘Haseena: The Queen of Mumbai’ and we should thank god that they have not kept this name because that would have been a claim that how inconsistent the film was and especially the lead actress.

However, Let’s make things clear that Haseena Parkar is not a bad movie it’s just that this is not an exceptional film too.
