Senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal demanded a Supreme Court-monitored investigation by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe circumstances surrounding Special CBI judge Justice B.H. Loya’s death yesterday. He was joined by Salman Khurshid and other senior Congress leaders during the press conference.
Sibal said Justice Loya’s death must be investigated by a court-monitored SIT and no officer from Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and National Investigation Agency (NIA) must be a part of it because these agencies are run by the government.
“It seems to be a cover-up. If it is a cover-up, it has to be investigated,” said Sibal. He added that “the issue of democracy being in danger” had also been raised by four senior-most judges of the Supreme Court during their unprecedented press conference last month.
The former Law Minister said that if an independent investigation on this matter is not ordered soon, his party will go to every village and explain to people that “injustice is being meted out.” He claimed that Justice Loya’s sister and another relative had made some serious statements in the past alleging foul play in the former judge’s death.
