The ongoing issue at Doklam seems to be getting worse day by day and both the countries have shown their strict stand over the same.

Sushma Swaraj, external affairs minister spoke in Parliament yesterday to support the stance of the government on the issue stating that the ongoing tussle can be resolved by talks. She also added that the government is in constant touch with the Chinese authorities on a number of issues and is satisfied with the progress made in individual cases. Along with the Doklam, other issues which are being discussed with the Chinese authorities include border dispute, Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) and Jaish-e-Mohammad chief Masood Azhar.

In her statement in Rajya Sabha yesterday, Sushma Swaraj stated that for tackling such high-intensity issues, one needs to control the comments and show patience. With India’s stance, both the factors are quite evident and hopefully, the talks will reach a conclusion soon. She was speaking in the session which discussed India’s foreign policy and strategic partners.

She further added that the war is not the solution to every internal problem that arises. Even if there’s a war, there have to be talks after that. In such scenario, having talks before the war is a better solution. According to her, patience and diplomacy can be an answer to address the growing international tensions.

Lashing out on the opposition, Sushma Swaraj said that the opposition needs to stand with the government on such critical issues. She was replying to the comments made by Congress leaders on India’s stance and failure to tackle the issues properly.
