For the better understanding of GST, the informal seminar would be organized by the senior tax officials with a motive to spread awareness about the newly rolled out GST (Goods and Service Tax).

PM Modi has instructed all the ministers of his council to hold seminars in big cities to clear the doubt of the people about GST and also tell them about its future benefits. All the Ministers have been given a small booklet which holds information about GST, expected question and answers and ideas on the type of interactions to hold.

Information and Broadcasting Minister, M Venkaiah Naidu has asked all the ministers to interact with chartered accountants, chambers of commerce and with the concerned consumers and industrialists. Ministers have been given either their native states or the state in which they represent their Parliament. Like Commerce Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman has been given Madurai and Vijayawada and Tribal Affairs Minister, Jual Oram would travel in Odisha.

M Venkaiah Naidu reportedly said that it is their responsibility to keep a check on the proper implementation of GST and transformation of the tax administration in the country. In these seminars, public representatives will talk about what the new system is intended for, how it works for the betterment of every section of society and how it is going to transform the economic landscape of the country. People have to be informed how it helps curb corruption and improves tax concurrence. He has further requested not to involve media in this as it would not be a press conference. After the seminars, Minister would make a report about it and would flag issues, if they face any.
