BCCI

As soon as BCCI understood the importance of team’s manager, they decided to invite applications for the same. According to the sources, the board wants to give the post only to former cricketers. BCCI took this decision after CoA asked the manager to submit a report of Kumble-Kohli issue but they never received it. Sources in the BCCI told The Indian Express that applications will be invited and those who have played First-Class or International Cricket will be considered for the job.

Earlier, team’s manager was a post the BCCI thought was not necessary, but it seems like, under CoA, the board members have decided to change their minds. Those who have played First-Class or International Cricket will be considered for the job.

According to BCCI sources,“Only cricketers can become managers. Cricketers who have played First-Class or international cricket.  We discussed whether members who have done a good job in the past should be allowed to take part in the application process. However, we felt having cricketers as managers will help because they can understand what players’ needs are. Those cricketers who are having any post in associations can apply but will have to give up their post once picked.”
