Indian Telecom companies

Top 3 telecom companies in India, Airtel, Vodafone and Idea will face a probe ordered by CCI (Competition Commission of India) for allegedly ganging against Reliance Jio and allowing less number of points of interconnection (PoI).

CCI has ordered a detailed probe which will examine the reasons of major call drop issues by Jio customers in the initial days of launch. Along with the telecom operators, CCI also wants to investigate COAI (Cellular Operators Association of India)’s role in denying a smooth entry to Reliance Jio and favouring the biggies of Indian telecom industry.

The development came in response to a complaint which was filed by Mukesh Ambani led Reliance Jio in November last year. Jio had alleged the telecom operators of not allowing adequate number of points of connection and it resulted in almost 90% call drop in the initial days of its launch.
