Reliance Jio latest plan

Reliance Jio has revised its old tariff plans and unveiled two new tariffs. The newcomer has reduced validity and effective data offering of the old tariff plans.

The move comes after Jio’s Dhan Dhana Dhan offer which was launched on April 11. The offer has reached the maximum allowed 90-day promotional period on July 9.

For prepaid user, Jio will now provide 56 GB data for 56 days at ₹309, which effectively means that consumers will get 1 GB data per day. Earlier for the same amount, the pack was valid for 84 days for the same amount of 1 GB data per day.

According to Bank of America Merill Lynch, Jio is reducing its discounts and raising implied tariffs which would be “directionally positive” for Bharti Airtel and other telecom companies.

Jio has introduced two new plans, ₹349 and ₹399 for its Prime members. Under the ₹349 plan, prepaid users are being offered 20 GB of data for 56 days, while ₹399 will get them 84 GB of data valid for 84 days. But post-paid customers availing ₹399 plan will get 90 GB data with three months validity.

Kotak Securities in a report said, “The move is largely on expected lines … It provides some breather (not relief) to the industry that has been reeling under the Jio promotion onslaught”. It added that the move should “provide the industry an opportunity to stem the free fall in ARPU (Average Revenue per user) levels seen in the past three-quarters”.
