Manali: Kullu police on Thursday had arrested seven tourists dancing inside the newly inaugurated Atal tunnel.

Travelers have kept on flout traffic rules in the passage having vital noteworthiness. The tourists halted their vehicles inside the 9.02km long tunnel, played music, and began dancing. This constrained the police to capture them along with their vehicles

Gaurav Singh, Kullu Superintendent of Police (SP) told the media, “Tourists have been booked under relevant sections of the law and have been arrested. The vehicle of the tourist that they had stopped in the tunnel has also been impounded. Some other tourists, who were present on the spot after stopping their vehicles, are also being questioned. They will also face legal action.”

The vehicle detained from the accused has a registration number from Delhi. Meanwhile, police have said that more tourists are likely to be arrested. Kullu Police is alert on such matters as it also belongs to national security for the tunnel is a major link between Manali and Ladakh.

Also, the Himachal Pradesh government has put up a strict ban on stopping and coming out of the vehicles inside the tunnel for security reasons and to prevent traffic chaos.

According to the police, when the accused started dancing to the loud music several other tourists also joined them.

Meanwhile, Atal tunnel management on Thursday chose to keep the tunnel shut for all kinds of movements for one hour every day from 11 am to noon.

The Atal burrow has become the principal vacation destination since its inauguration on October 3 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The tourist surge has expanded in front of Christmas and New Year. So has expanded the number of scoundrels.
