Google is currently busy applying final polish to the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL smartphones as the official release date inches closer. Now, a tweet made by Android’s senior VP suggests that the devices are slated to launch sooner rather than later.
Hiroshi Lockheimer, Google’s Senior Vice President of Android, mentioned an “unreleased phone” on his Twitter handle. Lockheimer shared a few pictures on his Twitter account revealing that he had been taking those pictures on an unreleased phone. His tweets suggest that he has been using the device as his daily driver, which indicated that the device is ready for retail and could be launched soon for everyone. There are chances that Lockheimer is using the unreleased Pixel 3a smartphone.
I got to see Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard's office from the 60s yesterday, it was super cool! But…
I took pictures with an unreleased phone 📱📷🤐 so I probably shouldn't share them here. 😝

XDA Developers published a report earlier this month revealing that they discovered lines of codes inside Android Q‘s first beta that referenced at the existence of two mid-range Pixel smartphones–Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL. The report adds that Google will be launching the two devices in Just Black and Clearly White color options.
Based on the leaks, the Pixel 3a will feature a 5.6-inch AMOLED with FullHD+ ((2220 × 1080 pixel) resolution. It will be backed up by a 3,000mAh battery with 18w fast charging support. In terms of camera, it will feature a single 12-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front selfie shooter. Both the devices will run Android 9.0 Pie out-of-the-box and will be treated to Android Q update as soon as it is official.
Google has not yet officially confirmed the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL smartphones. The company is expected to reveal the devices in the month of April this year. If Google does not announce the smartphones in April, it is more likely to introduce them at its I/O event, which is scheduled to take place from 7 to 9 May. The new affordable Pixel devices will feature Active Edge squeeze feature, as seen on the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3XL.
