The apex court has questioned the seriousness of petitions being filed over the issue of Article 370. The court has questioned the petitioners for not following the proper format of the petition.

The Bench hearing the case comprises of Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi and Justices SA Bobde and SA Nazeer.

It came furiously on advocate ML Sharma, who filed a petition seeking the repeal of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi tried reading his petition for half an hour but said, he couldn’t understand it.

He also slashed ML Sharma by calling his petition meaningless. As the Bench took five other petitions also, it observed that all of the petitions carry technical defects and prove incompetent on the grounds of proper formatting.

Another petition filed by a Kashmiri lawyer, Shakir Shabir, was found to be defective. The court said that the defects were only removed till Wednesday night. Ranjan Gogoi also lashed out at Shakir Shabir for troubling his officers by such defective petitions.

Another petiton was filed by Kashmir Times Executive Editor Anuradha Bhasin. Arguing her case, Vrinda Grover called for lifting the restrictions in the region. To this, CJI replied that he heard about communication channels restoring by today’s evening. Justice Bobde also gave his views on the matter.

He told that the communication line is very much working as he mentioned about his dialogue with Chief Justice of the High Court in the early morning.

Speaking on the matter Attorney-general KK Venugopal and Solicitor-general Tushar Mehta apprised the court about the situation in the valley. They told that the situation is being handled by the government daily.
