Ram Nath Kovind

Ram Nath Kovind, BJP‘s candidate for the presidential election is on a nation-wide tour to seek support from various parties. Though BJP has a clear majority for the upcoming polls, it is not leaving any stone unturned for ensuring a smooth victory for its candidate. The nationwide tour is a step in the same regard. Ram Nath Kovind had started his tour from his motherland, UP on Sunday.

If the reports are to believed, Ram Nath Kovind will be in Patna sometime in July. The ruling party in Bihar is JD(U), which has announced its support to Ram Nath Kovind, despite being out of NDA. The JD(U) leaders, however, have conveyed to the BJP leadership that the support extended is only for the presidential election and the party representatives are not willing to get indulged in any other activities with the BJP leaders. The same has prompted them to ask for a separate event to meet Ram Nath Kovind when he visits Patna.

Speaking to the reporters, one of the JD(U) leaders stated that the party is not a part of NDA. Supporting Ram Nath Kovind as the presidential candidate is a one-off decision and should not be looked as an inclination towards BJP. He also added that the party leaders do not want to get addressed in a joint session by Ram Nath Kovind.

BJP is in no mood to create any other controversy right now. The fact that JD(U) has come in open support to its candidate means a lot and the party will not mind agreeing to one such small demand by JD(U) leaders. According to rumors, the senior leadership is giving it a thought and an official confirmation will be made before Ram Nath Kovind arrives in Patna.

The next destination on Ram Nath Kovind’s plan is Panchkula, where he will meet leaders of Haryana and Punjab. Along with SAD and BJP in Punjab, he is expected to meet INLD leaders, who have extended their support to him as well.
