Call it a ‘route to revival’ as the upcoming Skoda Slavia is aimed to disrupt the SUV market. The final results will be out by March 2022 and everyone will be having a clear picture of what this new sedan can really do. On paper, it does look stylish, powerful and most importantly, practical. However, is it capable enough of pushing people who are SUV centric back to the old school sedans? Let’s check out all the details related to it and wait until it hits the Indian streets.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Skoda is going to launch Slavia by March 2022.
  • It will be available with two turbocharged units.
  • Expected to rival the fifth-generation Honda City.

Skoda Slavia: What to expect?

Exterior & Design

Skoda boasts the dimensions of Slavia with pride. The length of this sedan is rated at 4541mm, width at 1752mm and height at 1487mm. Interestingly, it even gets a class-leading wheelbase of 2651mm which is comparatively better than the fifth-generation City.

The styling of the all-new Slavia does not feature unnecessary elements. At the front, it comes with a signature grille, pair of LED headlamps, separate fog lamp housing and wide air intakes. According to the brand, the top-spec variants will be running on large 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels to enhance the side profile. Apart from this, Slavia at the tail-end will be featuring split LED headlights that look absolutely stunning in the real world.

Interior

Cabin of the all-new Slavia will surely remind you of other Skoda cars. As per the spec sheet, this one will be featuring a twin-spoke steering wheel, 8-inch driver’s display, a large 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system and automatic climate control. Other modern features, including an electric sunroof, wireless charging pad and ventilated seats are also there to make it feature-loaded.

Engine & Transmission

Kushaq’s 115HP, 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine will be powering the entry and mid-level variants of Slavia. Interestingly, the top-end trims will be coming with a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol unit with overall output rated at 150HP and 250Nm. Even this unit is a part of the compact SUV trim. Transmission duties for the entire range will be managed by a six-speed manual gearbox as standard. However, for added convenience, customers can opt for a six-speed torque converter (1.0-litre TSI) and a 7-speed DCT with the 1.5-litre TSI unit.

Skoda already started accepting bookings for the Slavia after the unveiling event. People who still wish to place their bookings can do it by visiting the brand’s official website or nearest dealership against a token amount of Rs.11,000.

Alternatives

As soon as it is launched, Skoda Slavia will be competing with some well-known sedans such as Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. Want to learn more about the fifth-gen City? Here are some crucial details related to it down below.
