The film is an adaptation of Hussain Zaidi’s acclaimed novel, Mafia Queens of Mumbai. The film also features Shantanu Maheshwari, Vijay Raaz, Seema Pahwa, Indira Tiwari and Varun Kapoor in supporting roles. Actors Ajay Devgn, Huma Qureshi and Emraan Hashmi have special cameos. Alia Bhatt Shares An Intense Poster Of Gangubai Kathiawadi
Alia Bhatt began shooting for the film towards the end of 2019. She even shared an Instagram post of her first look from the shoot. However, the makers had to halt the shoot due to the coronavirus lockdown. The shoot then resumed in October 2020. Initially, the film was scheduled to release on July 30, but again the film release got delayed due to the omicron variant. The filmmakers have finally scheduled the new release date of Gangubai Kathiawadi.
