The Congress on Wednesday announced the names of all its candidates for the November 28 Assembly polls in Mizoram.
The Central Election Committee (CEC) of the Congress selected the candidates while the party’s general secretary in-charge of the CEC, Mukul Wasnik, made the announcement.
The current chief minister Mr Thanhawla will be contesting from two constituencies: Champhai South (ST) and Serchhip (ST) seats which are both reserved for the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category.
The nomination-filing process will start on November 2 in the north-eastern state and the last date for filing papers is November 9.
Mizoram is the only north-eastern state currently under the Congress rule where BJP is keen to defeat it.
The 40-member Mizoram Assembly is slated to go to polls on November 28 and the results will be announced on December 11.
