GATE 2019

Institute of Technology, Madras has released the exam schedule for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2019. Admit Cards to the provisionally selected candidates will be available from January 4, 2019. The Admit card is the document to be used to enter the examination hall accompanied by a valid id proof. The Admit Cards will be made available to the candidates under the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS). The link for the GATE 2019 exam schedule is provided below:

Candidates are advised to keep a check on the official website gate.iitm.ac.in for updates regarding the examination.

The exam is conducted for admission to master’s degree and doctoral programmes in engineering, technology, architecture, and other branches of science. GATE is administered by Indian Institute of Science Bangalore and seven institutes of IIT.

The online Application process was closed on September 21. GATE 2019 will be conducted for 24 subjects which include Aerospace Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Architecture and Planning, Biotechnology, Civil Engineering, Mathematics, and Mechanical Engineering, etc.

Earlier IIT Madras released the list of rejected candidates. 725 candidates were rejected for not fulfilling the eligibility criteria and those who were found to be duplicate. There were 1118 candidates whose application forms were accepted.

This year, there has been an addition of a new subject paper called Statistics (ST). The dates for GATE 2019 are February 2,3 and 9,10, 2019. There will be two sessions each day. The first session will be from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM, the second session will be from 2:30 AM to 5:30 PM.

A candidate is allowed to appear in only one paper in any one session.

The general pattern for the GATE exam follows:

  • The exam will be of 3 hours duration
  • There will be 1 marks question and 2 marks questions. There will be a negative marking of -1/3 and -2/3 IN THE 1 mark and 2 mark questions respectively.
  • The total number of questions will be 65 and the total marks will be 100.
  • There will be both Numerical Answer Type Questions and MCQ type questions.
