The Gujarat Government on Tuesday decided to offer better financial schemes to the students belonging to the non-reserved category.

The Gujarat Government increased the annual income limit from ₹3 lakh to ₹4.5 lakh for the eligibility to avail the benefits by Gujarat Bin Anamat Shaikshanik Ane Arthik Vikas Nigam (Non-reserved category educational and economic development corporation)

Chief Minister Vijay Rupani brought together a meeting on Tuesday along with his deputy Finance Minister to review the income limits, after the consultation, it was decided that there will be an increment in the annual income limit of the family for beneficiaries.

“We have received representations from the  Commission for the non-reserved category, BJP chief Jitu Vaghani and other leaders from society over the income limit. They all recommended to increase the limit and after detailed discussion, the CM today gave nod to increase the income limit. The implementation for the same shall start from today only,” Deputy Chief minister Nitin Patel announced.

It was also announced that the annual income limit to avail up loans has been raised from ₹4.5 lakh to ₹6 lakh.

Earlier, the loans were only provided to pursue medical education in foreign countries, but now it will be given to students to pursue any postgraduate course or higher programs abroad, he also added.

Patel stressed that the scope of ₹10 lakh loan provided to pursue a medical education and technical education has been further extended.

It was also announced that now students can avail the loan facility even for admission in the national institutes such as IIT, IIM, NID, NIFT.

It was emphasized that the corporation responsible for all the schemes was set up last year to counter demands by Patidar community under the leadership of Hardik Patel to provide benefits to 58 castes in the state that are not entitled to any reservation benefits.

Several Schemes and assistance in terms of jobs and education had been announced last year to benefit students from this category.
