Exterior & Design

It takes inspiration from the last generation M2 but feels completely new because of the revamps. For instance, the power-packed coupe now features an aggressive design language unlike the older model and some major highlights such as the frameless kidney grille flanked by LED headlamps, sloping roofline and complex diffuser further enhance the overall styling to a great extent.

As per the brand, the new BMW M2 even features the Adaptive M suspension. Then thankfully, the M Carbon Roof as optional is also available, just in case there is some need for added customisation and weight shedding. What else requires a separate mention though are the 19/10-inch wheels (front and rear respectively). Both of them basically are standard ones but can be replaced with the Style 930 M Jet Black Wheels for few extra bucks.

Interior & Features

Inside the cabin of the new M2, one can clearly find the driver-centric approach, a typical BMW design language that feels premium but is also user-friendly. The sports car features a dashboard that comes equipped with BMW Curved display: a 12.3-inch fully digital driver’s display and then there’s a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system to keep you entertained.

As standard, BMW is also offering M Sports seats and this time, with the M Seat Belts featuring BMW M GmbH colours. The entry-level sports car also comes loaded with the M steering wheels which get paddle shifters for easy gear shifting.

Engine & Performance

A peppy 3.0-litre TwinPower Turbo, in-line six-cylinder petrol engine is deployed to power the new M2. This means the motor is tuned in such a manner that it now produces 460 horsepower and 550Nm of peak torque while being mated to an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission as standard. What’s optional though is the six-speed manual gearbox to offer maximum interaction between the driver and the car.

Now, the numbers mentioned above aren’t just on paper as BMW has confirmed that the M2 can clock a triple-digit speed in just 4.1 seconds with top speed electronically limited to 250kmph. The good part about it is that the German automaker is still offering several drive modes to toggle through according to the requirement of the driver.

During the launch, Mr Vikram Pahwa, President of BMW Group India said, “The all-new BMW M2 embodies an unadulterated racing passion that owners can enjoy day in, day out. It builds on the brand’s tradition of ultra-sporty models with compact dimensions. The expressive looks of the all-new BMW M2 act as a clear signpost to sporty driving pleasure and stem primarily from its extremely powerful proportions.  The car melds extraordinary speed with maximum control ensuring a smooth, dynamic drive no matter how far you push the limits.
