Coming to what encouraged Mercedes to locally assemble the AMG variants in India is the overwhelming response and a YoY growth in sales by 54 percent.

The first AMG model to be assembled in India will be the Mercedes AMG GLC 43 Coupe at the Chakan Plant, Pune. As per Mercedes, the car will now cost somewhere around Rs. 80 Lakhs. Meanwhile, coming to the recently launched AMG GLE 53 Coupe. It comes with a price tag of Rs. 1.20 Crores. With such a price tag, we can see how drastically the price has reduced since the assembling has started in India. The engine that powers the AMG GLE 53 Coupe is a 3.0L twin-turbo petrol engine. The decision to locally produce AMG in India underlines Mercedes-Benz’s clear roadmap for the Indian market and our long term commitment to our Indian customers. We want AMG to be more accessible to potential customers and play a bigger role in our overall portfolio we offer in India.”

However, Mercedes-Benz has recently launched its first all-electric SUV, EQC in India. The company has also announced that it has plans to expand its electric trim in India and will not come up with the mild-hybrid models.
