Cars under a limited budget and length are what the customers demand for city rides. Even first time buyers are the ones who keep both these factors in their mind. For now, all these points might not look valid, but in the real world, they are the kingpin in determining the price including the taxes. One great example to support this is the introduction of the sub-four meter SUVs. The success behind such SUVs was solely based upon their length.

Why are we talking so much about all this? Well, even the hatchbacks are valued in a similar way. Also, it is one of those segments that provide minor relaxation to the carmakers so that they can explore the entire market. Nissan has finally revealed the long-running Micra that now receives a full makeover. Are the updates up to par? Let us check that out right here.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Nissan Micra has finally received updates for the international market.
  • It is now available with a 106HP, 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine.
  • The Japanese brand has no intention to introduce the new Micra in India.

2021 Nissan Micra

Before its launch in Mexico, Nissan has revealed it with multiple updates. According to the reports, the updated hatchback now features a revised front fascia. To be precise, the front end is now more pointed with a sculpted bonnet hood, new pair of elegant headlamps and a reworked front.

Unlike the changes at the front, the rear end of the hatchback remains identical to the outgoing model. However, there is a new pair of LED tail lamps and a revised bumper for an upmarket look. The side profile of Nissan Micra will feature a new set of diamond cut alloy wheels.

Inside the cabin, significant changes including an all-black interior with an ample amount of space for five occupants can be witnessed. To begin with, updates such as a new multi-functional steering wheel and a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system are now a part of the all-new Nissan Micra.

At the heart, it will get a 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that churns out 106HP and 142Nm of torque while being mated to a 5-speed gearbox as standard. Also, customers can opt for this same motor with a 4-speed automatic gearbox as well. In India, Nissan Micra used to come with 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine.

Alternatives

The 2021 Nissan Micra might not be able to pave its way back to India. But globally, it will continue to compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift. In recent times, even Swift has received similar updates. Want to know more? Take a look at the best selling entry-level hatchback right here.
