Women entrepreneurs are not just a business-leader but harbingers of change, says President Murmu

President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday hosted a historic meeting at Rashtrapati Bhavan, interacting with a dynamic group of women leading the country’s most successful start-ups and unicorns. This interaction, held under the “The President with the People” initiative, served as a powerful message of recognition and inspiration, celebrating the groundbreaking achievements of these women in changing the face of Indian business.

President Murmu lauded the women entrepreneurs for their transformative impact, stating, “You have not only built successful businesses, but you have also redefined the very landscape of Indian entrepreneurship.” Recognizing the ‘Start-Up India’ initiative as a catalyst for their rise, she commended their invaluable contributions in propelling India to become the third largest start-up ecosystem in the world, currently boasting over 1,17,000 start-ups and more than 100 unicorns.

However, the President’s words transcended mere economic accolades. She highlighted the broader societal impact of their journeys, calling them “a source of inspiration for the people, especially women and youth.” From tech giants to social enterprises, their diverse pursuits showcased the boundless potential of Indian women as entrepreneurs, shattering traditional barriers and paving the way for future generations. “You are not just business leaders,” the President declared, “you are the harbingers of change, role models for millions of young women who dare to dream.”

President Murmu’s message resonated with a call to action, urging the women to act as torchbearers for other aspiring entrepreneurs. Recognizing the need for a robust support system, she encouraged them to “identify other enterprising women and think of new ways to support them in their journey of empowerment.” This call for inclusivity resonated deeply, with the President envisioning an India where “every woman is empowered and every young woman moves forward with confidence to fulfil her dreams.”

The meeting at Rashtrapati Bhavan was more than just a recognition ceremony; it was a powerful validation of the transformative power of female leadership in India’s economic landscape. As President Murmu aptly stated, “Their success should create a ripple effect”, paving the way for generations of women to rewrite the narrative of business and empowerment, not just in India, but across the globe.

This historic interaction serves as a powerful reminder that the story of India’s progress is inextricably linked to the rise of its women entrepreneurs. As these trailblazers continue to redefine the boundaries of success, their journeys inspire a nation to dream bigger and build a future where every woman has the opportunity to shine.
