The Student Unions of india mainly ABVP (Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi parishad) and NSUI (National Students Union of India) has demanded to postpone the Medical Entrance Exam for Postgraduate Courses which is scheduled to be held on 16th June, 2021.

The NSUI Head wrote a letter to the Director and Registrar of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) which organises the INI-CET (Institutes of National Importance Combined Entrance Test) which is held every year for admission in PG courses offered in Medicine and surgery.

In the letter, students mentioned the reason for this demand that situations due to COVID-19 Pandemic are not favourable for conduction of any type of exam. The effect of Second wave has not vanished yet and it is still highly active in most of the states which are also under lockdown.

Most of the aspirants preparing for this PG exam are serving as front-line workers in COVID duties. The government has asked medical graduates to serve for atleast 100 days during the pandemic as health sector is suffering shortage of Doctors, nurses and other medical staff.

NSUI claims in the letter that government assured to all the aspirants that they will be informed atleast a month before the commencement of exam. But the notice came just 18 days prior to the main exam date which caused uncertainty among the students community.

Aspirants are informed at a very short notice and thus they are left with a very few days for preparation. A number of students has not still completed their 100 days service and are now in a state of confussion to whether continue the duties or prepare for exams.

Government earlier announced that medical graduates who provide their services during pandemic will be awarded grace marks in PG entrance exams. Thus many of the students wants to complete their mandatory duties before appearing for exams.
